This classic shoot 'em up makes its Western debut after 34 years!
Released in 1989 in Japan on the MSX/MSX2+, this unique vertical shooter was a new type of game for T&E Soft by invoking tropes from classic horror and medieval fantasy as well as pushing their developers to create an unforgettable challenge. Ports to the MSX/MSX2+ and Mega Drive followed in 1991, with a very limited distribution. Since then, it's been a known "secret" that this game isn't only just rare and expensive, but also a challenge to even the seasoned shoot 'em players. Now for the first time thanks to D4 Enterprise, Retro-Bit Publishing welcomes it into everyone's retro game collection!

1982
T&E Soft Co. Ltd. was founded by brothers Toshiro and Eiji Yokoyama and began selling games and accessories for the home PC market in Japan. Eventually, their small development team would create Hydlide which would become their breakout hit. As the videogame industry grew, they shifted their focus from PCs software to the home consoles.

July 1989
Undeadline was released on the MSX/MSX2+ in Japan and would garner some attention from reviewers for its unique gameplay elements and difficulty. A port for the X68000 PC arrived in September 1990 would allow for players to choose between a fighter, a rogue, or a mage as their characters and expanded some of the environments.
December 1991
The Mega Drive port would launch in Japan only with very limited distribution. This version of Undeadline removed the Rogue and Mage characters. The story was also changed to reflect the character changes. Although it was one of the toughest shooters available on the console, it did not get a release outside of Japan.

2020

These versions have since gone on to command high prices on the market while the original versions kept skyrocketing in value.
2025
Retro-Bit Publishing will be re-releasing Undeadline on the SEGA Genesis®/Mega Drive in North America and Europe for the first time. This version has been completely translated into English for the first time. The game is expected to arrive by late 2025.
