Valis: The Fantasm Soldier - Collector's Edition
Yuko Asou had just finished a long day at school when a freak storm began pouring rain - just like in her dream the night before. She then encounters her classmate Reiko, who leaves behind more questions than answers. Suddenly set upon by a monster, Yuko manifests a sword in her hand (much to her surprise) and can defeat her foe. She tries to go home but finds the entire city beset by demons. Armed with the Sword of Valis, Yuko must fight off the dark forces of King Rogles across 7 action-packed stages and protect the Fantasm Jewel of Queen Valia. She will need to master the mystic blade as well as magic spells to defeat each one of Rogles’ Dark Lords. Does she have it in her to save both worlds from the encroaching darkness?
Syd of Valis - Collector's Edition
Yuko was out getting ice cream after a school day when she runs into an enemy she suspects is Rogles, but it turned out to be Emperor Megas looking to take over the dreamworld of Vecanti! She must embark once more to prevent the destruction of Queen Valia’s homeworld as the true Valis Warrior. Emperor Megas looks to stop Yuko by taking the mystic sword away from her and rendering her powerless to stop him. New items and abilities are given to her in this "chibi" adventure, as well as 6 different armors to defeat the dark forces across 5 perilous stages.
Valis III - Collector's Edition
Much time has passed since Yuko saved the dreamworld of Vecanti. Her own twin sister now sits on the throne as Queen of Valia, and the Dark World falls into civil war. Now, one of the most powerful lords of the Dark World has proclaimed himself as King Glames and seeks to conquer worlds to prevent the destruction of his own. Still, there are those among the Dark World who fight against him, such as Cham. Yuko will need Cham to rescue Valna and then team up to defeat King Glames and his Sword of Leethus, which is powerful enough to take on the Sword of Valis. Use each character’s abilities and magic to their fullest through 9 treacherous stages to strike at the heart of the Dark World once again!

Developed by Telenet Japan's in-house studio, Wolf Team, Valis: The Fantasm Soldier released for the MSX, PC-8801, and other home computers in Japan. It was a hit and was one of the best selling games of 1987. Ports were released in Japan for the Family Computer, PC Engine-CD, and the Mega Drive.
June 1989
After the release of the first entry, many of Wolf Team's staff left and Telenet Japan would restructure their studios to form Laser Soft and focus on the LaserDisc market and CD-ROM consoles. Valis II was released in 1989 released on the PC Engine with animated cutscenes and CD-quality audio. A port for the North American TurboGrafx-CD arrived in 1990. Ports for the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive in North America and Europe were originally planned but canceled.
September 1990
Valis III launches on the Japanese PC Engine CD with the North American version launching in 1992. It came with animated cutscenes and CD-quality audio and was generally well received.
April 1991
Valis III launches in North America on the SEGA Genesis a year after its original launch. This was the first official Valis title to launch in North America.
August 1991
Valis IV releases for the PC Engine-CD being the last mainline entry of the series. Like others developed by Laser Soft, it had great animation and audio quality. It was well received and the gameplay featured the ability to switch between two characters at any time.
Late 1991
The original Valis launches in North America, despite Valis III having already been released earlier that year.
1992
SD Valis releases for the Japanese Mega Drive. It is a comedic chibi re-telling of Valis II. It is ported to North America as Syd of Valis later that year - although the cover art was switched to that of a different Telenet Japan release, The Sugoroku '92: Nariagari Trendy.
February 1993
Super Valis IV releases on the SNES®. It was an extensive remake of Valis IV adapted for the 16-bit console. Yuko replaces the two original characters and the magic system was replaced with special items and weapons. Animated sequences were removed with the soundtrack also being changed. While a new stage was added, several others were removed entirely.
July 2023
With pre-orders concluding in late 2022, the full SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive collection arrived in North America and Europe. This bundle includes Valis: The Fantasm Soldier, Syd of Valis, and Valis III. Some small additional edits were made to the games to make this a definitive collection for console players.
