Owners of the SEGA Genesis® during the early 1990s would be no strangers to seeing multiple releases from Renovation - their studios were consistent in producing games with unique takes on genres. One of those studios, Wolf Team, would go on to develop a wide variety of titles, each of them earning praise for their unique game feel. One series the studio would develop was the Earnest Evans trilogy. The aforementioned Earnest would appear within the game before eventually having his own title, acting almost as a pseudo prequel/sequel. El Viento is filled with action and magic; players need to guide Annet to prevent the return of the Dark Lord Hastur. Strengthen her magic powers as you battle through eight stages and put an end to the summoning ceremony. For each copy sold, Retro-Bit will donate to our friends at the Video Game History Foundation in our mutual efforts for game preservation.

It is the year 1928 when the cult of Hastur, an evil god of the winds, seeks to resurrect their master. To do this, a massive ceremony must be performed atop a large structure in New York City - the future Empire State Building! The cult’s leader, Restiana, has brought even mob boss Vincent DeMarco to provide additional muscle to their dark plans. All seems lost until a sorceress from Peru arrives to put an end to their plot. Annet has harnessed a portion of Hastur’s magic and can control various elements, such as the magic of the Wind - el Viento! Guide Annet through speakeasies, factories, alleyways, and more throughout the city and put an end to the ritual!

El Viento, Spanish for "the wind", is released for the Japanese Mega Drive. Developed by Wolf Team, it stars Annet Myer, a Peruvian sorceress who shares the evil Hastur's bloodline and is the only one capable of preventing him from entering our world. It is part of the "Earnest Evans Trilogy" of games. As such, Earnest appears later on in the game as the story plays out.

A port of El Viento launches on the SEGA Genesis® with the only noticeable changes being Al Capone being renamed to Vincente DeMarco and the removal of his smoking of a cigar.
December 1991
Developed by Wolf Team, Earnest Evans is released on the SEGA Mega-CD in Japan. This action-platformer has elements of Indiana Jones and also had animated cutscenes for the story. Within the game, he encounters Annet Myers in some ruins in Peru.
March 1992
A port of Earnest Evans for the SEGA Genesis® arrives without the animated cutscenes. Even so, the game retains its fluid, action-packed gameplay.
March 1993
Annet Futatabi is a side scrolling, beat 'em up for the Mega-CD in Japan. Annet still retains her magical abilities but cannot be used against bosses. She has also updated her look and weilds a sword instead of her boomerangs. This game was never released outside of Japan.
January 2024
Retro-Bit Publishing launches the El Viento collector's edition featuring a Rosa Intensa cartridge. Using elements from both Japanese and North American releases, it becomes the first time it is officially released in Europe. Pre-orders had closed on June 2023.
