TIGHTEN YOUR HACHIMAKI AND GRAB YOUR HAMMER!
Irem was a strong competitor in the arcade scene during the end of the '80s amid the videogame boom. Nearly every arcade had a marquee featuring Moon Patrol, Kung-Fu Master, R-Type, or Ninja Spirit ready to snack on your quarters. One title to arrive in 1990 was the arcade Daiku no Gen-San or as it is known in the West, Hammerin' Harry! The little carpenter would go on to become one of Irem's most recognizable mascots and has a history of titles across various consoles. His first two adventures on consoles are now gathered together in this release that should garner attention from classic action game fans and collectors alike!

Hammerin' Harry - Collector's Edition

A version was released in Europe under the name Hammerin' Harry which would replace certain Japanese cultural staples from the game such as ramen shops becoming pasta shops as well as some items. The Rusty Nail Construction Co. has begun to take over Carpentersville and destroyed Harry's home. On top of that, Donna (his girlfriend) has also gone missing! They've messed with the wrong carpenter...

Hammerin' Harry 2: Dan the Red Strikes Back - Collector's Edition
In 1993, the sequel 大工の源さん2 赤毛のダンの逆襲 (Daiku no Gen-san 2: Akage no Dan no Gyakushō) would see a Japanese release. Translated for the first time, we have renamed it Hammerin' Harry 2: Dan the Red Strikes Back available in cartridge form. Nearly doubling the previous game content, you now have nine stages sending you on a chase to take down your rival Dan the Red, and bring down the mysterious Dr. Parallel. During all this chaos, it seems like Donna and Harry's pops also got kidnapped! Well, if there's any one thing Harry can count on, it's his trusty hammer!

Media Reception
"There's hours of fun to be had with Harry and his many hammers. Each stage has something different to get your teeth into and the music and brilliant sampled "Let's get busy!" speech will keep gamers at the joypad."
"The graphics are vintage Irem, with excellent sprite work, large, expressive characters, and detailed environments. The theme song is catchy, if not particularly classic."
