Holy Diver - Collector's Edition

Holy-Diver-Shrinkwrap

As the Holy Diver, Randy needs to retrieve the five emblem seals of the King Crimson Family to banish the evil Black Slayer to another dimension.  While similar to action titles such as Castlevania, Randy is able to control elemental magic to shoot energy, freeze time, and much more.  Holy Diver was never released outside of Japan, marking this its debut in the West on NES® consoles as well as being officially translated to English for the first time.

April 1989

Holy Diver is released on the Japanese Famicom.  It was considered a difficult game, even by Japanese standards.  Various names within the game pay homage to heavy metal music and rock icons.  The title of the game itself is a reference to the album Holy Diver by Ronny James Dio.
